The engineered timber was delivered to the site on the 30th November 2011 in the late afternoon. The unloading and checking process started the following day the 1st December. The carpenters then arrived late in the evening ready to start work at 7.00am the next day.

The first stage of the build is now under way. The foundations of the cabin were already in place ready for the timber work to begin. There as been many deliveries already and plenty more to come. Work is progressing well with the sides of the log cabins being built.

Weather conditions are not the best, heavy rain in the first few days has made the site a bit of a mud slide. It was decided to begin the construction of the log home in December so not to effect the tourist trade in this beautiful tourist area.

We are making good progress on the build. The local people have been very helpful and supportive. We are having to plan ahead making list of supplies we need as the local trade store is over an hour away and bad weather is forecast here in the Lake District.

Work continues on the build dispite the awful weather conditions here in the Lake District. Scaffolding is nearly up making working conditions much easier for the team.

The project is really moving along, it's nice to see the log cabin taking shape with the ground floor timber walls, spaces for windows and the floor joist in place.

The high strength and stiffness of laminated timbers enable glulam beams and arches to span large distances without intermediate columns, allowing more design flexibility than with traditional timber construction.

Our aim on the 15th Decemeber was to get the last Glulam on and last log in place and we were able to achieve this thanks to the bad weather holding off.
